This Privacy Policy describes how I Am The American Dreamer (John Schembari) collects, uses, and protects information when you visit this website, join the mailing list, or get in touch. The short version: this site collects only what you choose to give it (plus the standard technical server logs described below), uses that information only to respond to you and share John's new music and writing, and never sells it. Use of the site is also governed by the Terms of Service.
Information You Provide
Mailing list.When you subscribe, we collect your email address and which signup form you used. It is stored in a secure database and used only to send you John's new songs, writing, and related updates.
Contact form. When you send a message, we collect the name, email address, optional subject, and message you provide, stored in a secure database so we can read and respond to your inquiry.
This site has no user accounts, and payment information is never requested or collected.
Cookies & Information Stored on Your Device
This site does not use advertising or analytics cookies and does not run third-party tracking scripts. To make the site work well, your browser's local storage keeps a few functional preferences on your device only: your dark/light theme choice, your audio-player session (which song was playing, where you left off, and your volume and mute settings), and whether you dismissed the subscribe popup or already subscribed, so it stops prompting you. This information never leaves your device, and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.
Server Logs & Hosting
Like nearly all websites, the hosting infrastructure that serves this site may process standard technical information (such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested) in server logs, used to deliver the site and keep it secure. Fonts and audio are served from this site directly, not from third-party services.
How Information Is Used & Shared
Information is used solely to respond to inquiries, deliver mailing-list updates, and maintain and improve the website. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. It is shared only with the service providers that store data and host the site on our behalf, and only as needed to run it, or if the law requires it.
Your Choices & Data Retention
You can unsubscribe from the mailing list at any time, and you can ask us to access, correct, or delete the information you have provided, by emailing John@iamtheamericandreamer.com. We keep subscriber and contact information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes above or until you ask us to remove it.
Children's Privacy
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if you believe a child has provided it, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new “last updated” date. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
